Leo Tolstoy was much more than a novelist. He also spoke out against state authority, war, laws, patriotism, and economic exploitation. Many of Tolstoy's anarcho-pacifist views were informed by his mid-life conversion to Christianity. Alexandre Christoyannopoulos discusses Tolstoy's Christian anarchism.

Your great but critical sympathy from Tolstoy makes it always facinating to listen to. Looking forward to more in print in the future. Tolstoy has much to teach our current times.
A very interesting subject, but a particularly unimaginative guest. I found your questions more insightful than the answers. As regards anarchism, as George Monbiot recently wrote in an article, “when the anarchist utopia arrives, the first thing that will happen is that every Daily Mail [a xenophobic rightwing UK tabloid] reader in the country will pick up a gun and go and kill the nearest hippy.”
