It may be a new day under Obama, but economic black clouds loom. Immanuel Wallerstein reflects on Obama's victory and describes the current crisis as a depression, placing it in the context of broad political-economic trends. Ismael Hossein-Zadeh enumerates several flaws in Paulson's bailout plan and suggests a homeowner-centered alternative.

After listening to this program, do you agree with Wallerstein's analysis? Are we in a depression? Will capitalism survive this?
Yes I think were at the begining of an extended period of no place for the big boys and blue haired old ladies to invest and they will have to operate out of pocket. I also think that Obama's tenure will begin not a moment too soon! And I also believe that the quickest job creationism would be by deporting illegals en mass!
